Adventure racers use single ropes for rappelling and rope work, and ATC-Sport is made for just that. The Black Diamond ATC-Sport is a super lightweight variable-friction belay rappel device for single rope use.
The ATC-Sport maintains the silky-smooth feeding of Black Diamond's ATC but increases the braking power. For belaying and rappelling with 7.7-11 millimeter ropes, it’s designed with a smooth low friction side and a high friction side with v-shaped grooves for 3 times more friction. This means less effort to brake falls and rappels.
An extended central cable keeps biners and ropes properly oriented and reduces kinking.
