The combination of extremely strong and sophisticated materials, together with Grivel’s advanced technology lie behind the realisation of the Grivel Air Tech Light crampon, which leaves all the other models on the market far behind.
Built from light alloy materials that slash the weight by almost 50% (a mere 476g without the anti-bott). Ten points in contact with ice while you’re walking and twelve that bite into the slope during traverses. The last two front points are Bi-angular to maintain bite when descending or traversing sideways. Even the soles of the most modern boots are perfectly covered.
Designed for ski touring, competitive ski mountaineering, classical mountaineering routes and for high altitude or distant expeditions where weight is the determining factor.
New-Classic binding, which will fit virtually any type of footwear, it is delivered with the Flex-Regulation center bar to accommodate the most supple soles e.g. sneakers or light trekking shoes. New Classic binding system with bi-component strap giving maximum strength and maximum adherence.
Weight:
Without Anti-Bott - 1 lb 1 oz / 481g
With Anti-Bott - 1 lb 4.7 oz / 586g
New Classic Bindings: an evolution of the Classic binding. Both front and rear plastic harnesses are hinged to their respective retention posts and may be ''opened'' to facilitate attachment to the boot, then closed securely once the shoe is inside. The single strap closure system is so simple we may not need to provide instructions; the New Classic is thus ideal for first time users. The width of the rear harness adjusts to accommodate virtually any heel size. This system is simple and reliable, quick and easy, but it does take up a bit more space in the rucksack.
*When comparing price to other crampons, consider that Grivel Air Tech Light crampons come standard with Anti-Bott anti-balling plates. Anti-botts are flexible sheets that prevent snow build-up beneath the crampon. The Anti-bott is essential for safety in wet snow conditions.
