There are a couple of things that really set the Kahtoola Crampons apart from all the other crampons on the market.
First off all the Extender Bar between the toe and the heel piece is a double layer leaf-spring. Kahtoola's extender bar flexes with your footwear which is absolutely critical if you are using your crampons on a lightweight boots or trail running shoes. Other crampons were not designed to flex and run, Kahtoolas are!
The other design element is that 3/4" spikes reduce snagging, ankle twisting, and snow packing between spikes. All of this enables you to travel faster while still providing you plenty of traction. Kahtoolas are also one of the lightest and most compact crampons you can get.
Kahtoola's 10-point gripping system is made from the strongest aluminum alloy and weighs only 18.9 ounces (540 g) per pair, making it the lightest 10-point system available. Straps and quick-release buckles make it easy to put the Kahtoola Traction System on any shoe.
Three extender bars of different length are included and can be changed easily without tools. The folding heel support and collapsible design make for compact storage.
