The Montbell UL Alpine Down Hugger #3 is an incredibly lightweight and warm three-season, 30 degree sleeping bag. Montbell combines the best of two technologies, Gathered Quilt™ System inner bag and a non-stretch outer bag with vertical baffles.
With Montbell's patented Gathered Quilt™ System you get a closer fit which means one thing: a warmer more efficient bag. This system is similar to Montbell's Super Stretch™ System, and consists of elastic sewn into the baffles on the inside of the bag. This system allows the shell of the bag to keep its full shape while drawing the interior closer to you, creating a much more efficient bag. The elastic baffles also allow the bag to stretch as you move and change positions.
The Gathered Quilt™ System provides the freedom of movement of a more generously cut sleeping bag while providing the efficiency of a much closer fitting, more restrictive bag. Because of this increased efficiency, Montbell is able to use less down to achieve the same warmth, making the bags much lighter per warmth than other sleeping bags.
The draft tube prevents air circulation through the zipper area. Auto locking zipper has been integrated to limit zipper slip during the night. Vertical baffles have been narrowed to limit down migration and maximize loft.
A unique foot adjustment system with a drawstring added to the last baffle, allows for increased adjustability. Tighten the drawstring around your upper ankles to trap warm air at the foot, simulating a bootie. Stuff the entire bag into the last baffle, eliminating the need for a stuff sack. Shorter users can close the last baffle off completely, reducing the amount of air space to heat. Tapered stuff bag has a larger opening for more convenient packing.
Ballistic Airlight™ - 15-denier Ballistic Airlight™ nylon is astoundingly thin, weighing less than half of a 45-denier nylon of normal shells while offering similar strength. This strength comes from the manufacturing process where the nylon is repeatedly stretched to align the molecules, much like the tensilizing of steel, resulting in an extremely light weight, wind resistant, breathable and water resistant fabric.
Polkatex™ DWR - Elite best water repellant performance. Unlike other water repellent treatments, Polkatex™ DWR will retain its ability to keep you dry wear after wear, and wash after wash. Polkatex™ is a water based treatment with a fluorine finish that adheres to the fibers in treated fabrics to provide excellent water resistance. Polkatex™ also contains a cushioning agent that fills in the molecular bonds, giving them a unique elasticity. This elasticity allows the bonds to rebound from abrasion, and resist degradation from harsh detergents and oils. Polkatex™ is so durable that even after 100 washings it still retains 90% of its original repellency.
