Ruahine kayaks are designed and manufactured in New Zealand. With more than 20 years of experience in building racing kayaks, Ruahine leads the way in fast adventure racing kayaks.
The new fast funky Ruahine Kayak designed for the smaller paddler in the 110 to 154 pound range.
After discussions with a number of top Multisporters and Adventure Racers, it was decided that there is a need for suitable boat for smaller paddlers, predominately women, moving up from a Swallow, Sprinter or Arrow but find an Opus too big and the "6 metre plus" boats too long.
The result is our new "Rebel" kayak. It is 18.36 feet long, which is half way between the length of the Swallow and the Opus and it has a maximum beam of 17.71 inches.
We have developed a new seat especially for this kayak.
On it’s debut paddle Jill Westenra won the women’s section of the Rangitikei race.
This kayak comes complete with easily adjustable OZO footrests. Fitted with the innovative Kengineering dynamic flip-up rudder that gives up to 80% less drag than flat bladed rudders and vastly improves turning efficiency.
The Rebel is an extremely fast kayak designed for racing. By american standards this kayak is tippy. Suggested for only advanced adventure racing paddlers.
Kevlar lay-up has a complete kevlar hull and deck with carbon-fiber stiffening through the cockpit/footrest area.
